Since a visit to the Universal Studios’ Harry Potter themed lands isn’t possible right now, Inside The Magic have found a muggle* that has put together a Hogwarts Digital Escape Room. (*This escape experience was created by Sydney Krawiec, Youth Services Librarian at Peters Township Public Library in McMurray, PA.)
Like the Disney escape game, this one is put together for the whole family to enjoy together, although the clues are also set up for solo gameplay. So, again, I tried playing this alone.
Hogwarts Digital Escape Room
As the game begins, you find yourself in year one at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You and your new roommates are locked in and must escape without using magic.
Instead of you being transported around Hogwarts you are transported somewhere else (no spoilers) so this game ties in less with the Universal Studios park. I don’t know why they sent to where they did instead of sending you to somewhere in the Harry Potter universe. Maybe it has something to do with copyright. Or maybe the game writer wanted to sneak in a bit a history….
The game is also over fairly quickly. However, there were less glitches with this game than the Disney one, which made it enjoyable.
Could have done with more magic, though.
Can’t wait to go back to Universal Studios
