As visits to the Magic Kingdom are not possible at the moment, Inside The Magic are offering a Virtual Escape Room, full of Disney magic and problem solving.
Although put together for the whole family to play together, the clues are also set up for solo gameplay. So I tried playing this alone. It suggests playing this on a desktop computer. I can see why, as I started playing on a kindle and found the map a bit small to read.
The game starts with you waking up alone inside of Disney World’s Country Bear Jamboree. Walking outside you find the park is empty and you must find a way out. To do that you have to visit various attractions and solve puzzles to open 6 Magic Kingdom locks.
While I liked some of the puzzles, some appeared to have glitches. One puzzle had instructions to answer characters questions, but playing on kindle, it didn’t show any questions. I managed to solve it like a “mastermind” puzzle.
However, when I tried the game again on a desk top computer, the questions appeared really fast. So fast I couldn’t read them. So I couldn’t say I “solved” everything as I was meant to, to get through the game.
So, all in all, not that satisfying.
The attractions visited by the game can be found on a map of the park. For anyone that has visited Walt Disney World studying the map and visiting the rides brings back many happy memories. Until we can physically return to the Disney magic, watching the Disney channel and virtual visiting, will have to do….
