Exiting St Paul’s underground station, on our way to the Museum of London, we stumbled across another art trail through the City of London. At first we thought it was just a sculpture of large golden letters, but as we proceeded along the road we realised they formed a sentence – If You Turn…..
It turns out we’d found the words towards the end of the trail, which guides people from the Millennium Bridge (and the Tate Modern) to the Barbican.
The installation was created by Karsten Huneck and Bernd Trumpler and is called Around the Corner. It takes its inspiration from the history of London as a whole and 20th Century literature specifically. Together the words spell out the sentence “What are you going to meet if you turn this corner?” from Virginia Woolf’s novel Jacob’s Room.
The installation will stay in place until 30th April 2020.
