Valentine’s Mansion and Gardens
Before lockdown City Adventurers were able to visit this gorgeous grade II* listed country house. Built in around 1696, it was the home of Elizabeth Tillotson and her family, after the death of her husband, the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Originally it stood in open countryside, several miles from the edge of London. Now it is nestled within historic gardens and the award-winning Valentines Park in Redbridge.
During the eighteenth century it was owned by City merchant and banker Robert Surman and later by Sir Charles Raymond. Sarah Ingleby was the last private resident of Valentines. She died in 1906 and the Council acquired the house in 1912. Neglected during the 1980s and 1990s, in 2009 Valentines was restored to create the venue it is today.

The Valentines Anomaly
The Valentines Anomaly was the first ever Escape Game staged at Valentines Mansion. During lockdown, Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure have decided to make it available online. Donations to support the mansion in Redbridge are appreciated.
The Escape Game plot
Per DesignMyNight: There’s a strange phenomenon taking place at Valentines Mansion… Julien Slade has invited you to help investigate, but is all as it seems?
There are ghostly lights and unusual supernatural goings-on, Slade tells you that something very strange is taking place; the spirits in the building are waking up. Can they be trusted to guide you?
Your team will embark on an hour-long journey around the mansion; the house that Slade believes is the hiding place for an ancient artefact from the ill-fated ship, the East Indiaman Valentine, a mysterious but cursed item.
Is this all just an elaborate hoax, or will the mansion take its revenge?
