Our team of adventurers were standing outside a tailors shop on Shirley\u00a0High Street.<\/p>\n

We double checked the address.\u00a0Yes, this was definitely the right place.<\/p>\n

Tentatively we rang the bell. A lady opened the door and asked if she could help us. Feeling a little confused we offered an answer. It proved correct and we’d passed the test. A secret door lead us into the operation centre of Exciting Escapes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The mission begins<\/h2>\n

Seated around a conference table, awaiting instructions for our mission, we were tasked with coming up with a team name. Discussions followed on whether this was like being in the Man from U.N.C.L.E or Kingsman. Despite the setup being more Kingman, we chose “the People From U.N.C.L.E” as our team name.<\/p>\n

Our games master arrived and briefed us on our mission. Set in 1977, British Intelligence had reason to\u00a0believe that Detective Inspector Monroe, of the Metropolitan Police, had been providing foreign powers with intelligence. Our mission was to stop\u00a0<\/span>government secrets from falling into the wrong hands.<\/p>\n

There was just one catch.\u00a0The evidence was in Detective Inspector Monroe’s<\/span> office. Of course we couldn’t just walk into the place. We would need to break into the police station\u00a0<\/span>to find it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The set up included an intriguing way to enter the game. Once inside, each puzzle got us closer to Detective Inspector Monroe’s office.\u00a0<\/span>But getting to his office was only part of our problem. To get inside it, we had to deactivate a security camera. And then we had to disarm the security in his office before we could\u00a0<\/span>retrieve the secrets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The game contains a mix of puzzles, with technical elements true to the era. There were physical elements to some puzzles as well as brain power. Be prepared for a bit of crawling and some team building puzzles that require good communication. There were also some puzzles we hadn’t seen before.<\/p>\n

We succeeded in retrieving the briefcase of secrets and escaping in 47 minutes. A magnet showing our winning time is now displayed on the fridge.<\/div>\n
